Stimulus Update: 2nd Quarter Due Date Extended

On Friday, April 10th, the IRS extended the due date for 2nd quarter estimated tax payments from JUNE 15th to JULY 15th.

The extension applies to all taxpayers. This means everything tax-related is now due by July 15th instead of April 15th. This includes your 2019 tax return and balance due, and 1st and 2nd quarter estimated tax payments for 2020.

Essentially, the IRS pushed the reset button to July 15th. The extension also includes nonprofit organizations whose tax returns were due on May 15th. That deadline was also extended to July 15th.

Did you know that you can file for a tax refund going back three years? For example, you had until April 15th of this year to claim a refund for 2016. That deadline is now July 15th. If you did not file a tax return for 2016 you have until July 15th to do so. After July 15th you can only go back as far as 2017.
